Nicaragua Adventure Vacations

As Central America’s largest country, Nicaragua is a land of spectacular geographic diversity — from volcanic mountains in the west…to fertile valleys…to the swampy “Mosquito Coast” along the Caribbean. In between, lie two big lakes (Nicaragua and Managua) connected by the Tipitapa River.

Nicaragua’s culture is equally as diverse — with a mix of Spanish, English, and native Indian influences. In the country’s eastern half resides a small group of people who still practice their tribal customs and language. So it’s not surprising that this destination offers astonishing biodiversity, service learning, and rich cultural nuance, in a simple yet powerful setting.

Experience a nature tour unlike any other: hike near volcanoes, visit a butterfly farm, go on a reforestation tour, or watch turtles make their journey across the sand to lay eggs. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore quaint seaside villages and collaborate with locals on sustainability projects. Our incredible local visionaries provide an unparalleled immersion experience.

Why We Love Nicaragua

Nicaragua is a hidden gem in Central America. We love the unspoiled countryside, the warm and welcoming locals, and the rich culture waiting to be discovered. Our expeditions to Nicaragua help our travelers to connect with the inspiring environment and culture around them in nuanced ways. Local collaborators are innovators working to improve their villages, communities, and environment – we invite our travelers to be inspired by them and to consider their own impact. We love the opportunities that Nicaragua allows to get off the beaten path, challenge, and immerse yourself – from volunteering in a seaside village, to hiking up an active volcano, to visiting a sustainable farm, a Chill Expedition to Nicaragua offers an incredible experience to broaden your perspective and consider your footprint.

A Day on Expedition in Nicaragua

Day 2: Community Service Work

After fresh fruit and coffee, enjoy a morning yoga class in front of the beach. We then travel to the tiny town of El Transito to begin our community service work – building a new library. The spirit of collaboration crosses any language barriers as students play soccer and speak Spanish with local kids during lunch. We then take a refreshing swim in the ocean and help cook dinner with our local hosts – rice, beans, and fresh caught fish.
